There should be plural solutions.

Two kinds of roads should be prepared, distant and near, as main routes for people to move around in the garden. Distant roads make it difficult for people to approach their destinations with ease, while near roads make it easy at once. A renga (linked verse) by Munenaga (renga poet in the Muromachi period) reads, “Samurai’s boat goes fast around Yabashi on Lake Biwa, but if you wish to enjoy Oumi-hakkei (eight beautiful views around Lake Biwa), you should walk along the long bridge of Seta.” The former is a contrast to the latter, and which to choose is up to the main guest at the time. According to their choice, their way of proceeding, walking speed, and surrounding scenery vary. In case of choosing a near road, they better run. (A running corridor) Then totally new scenery will emerge. If a distant road is chosen, it will be a good idea to enjoy the host’s elaborately designed garden to their heart’s content.
